it feels like just yesterday i went to Eat The Street July.... and here we are, ready again for another one in August. its almost too much eating i tell you. well, by now, you should know what ETS is.... if you don't = look at my past posts for JULY and MAY. that up there is some good ass food. kimchee fried rice and korean chicken made by the "famous" (well, maybe only in Mililani), Alonzo's. Alonzo's has a restaurant as well as a truck. The restaurant is open to the public and located at the Mililani Golf Course. they're actually known for their kalbi, but after eating this from them - i'm sure they can pretty much cook anything. it was damn goooooood! PAUL'S POPPERS is a new business, not only to the food truck rally, but also to the island. at ETS it featured "poppers", or won tons filled with pepperoni pizza, jalapeno cheese burger, or spinach artichoke. I LOVED THEM ALL. they seem so simple in idea, i'm sure that you or I could make them at home.... but really, how often am i going to do this? i might try it though - i'll keep ya posted. i've heard about CAMILLE'S ON WHEELS before, and every time someone mentions them, they rave about how good they are. well, just so you know, THEY LIVE UP TO THE HYPE. this dish above, and the dish below were FAN-F*ING-TASTIC...... mini tacos were the perfect size. about 3 -4 bites each, these tacos, while little, were tasty! :D they also had this DELICIOUS chicken pot pie - which i was tricked into eating before it was cool enough to eat. this resulted in my mouth being napalmed with deliciousness..... it was like i was being punished and rewarded at the same time. if you get this (and you should), be sure to wait a little for it to cool. it will be difficult, but worth it. of course.... we had to hit up SOUL PATROL. i've gone to ETS 3 times now, and every time i have stopped at Soul Patrol. it is that good. this time, we tried the crab mac and cheese. i repeat = CRAB. MAC. AND. CHEESE. words cannot describe how many heart attacks i would suffer for this dish............. EAT IT. you might be asking yourself - "what are those alien eggs?" WELL those are "egg puffs" from PUFFETTES. also known as egg waffles (you can try make your own with THIS PAN from Williams Sonoma). apparently they are popular in China (what my chinese friend tells me).... and i can see why. these were strange, yet delicious! its like a mixture of a waffle with custard mochi type filling..... its hard to explain, but easy to eat, so if you spot the Puffetts truck (i've seen them in front of Sports Authority in town), then STOP and get some. they're good! you might think this is just your average dessert - but then you'd be wrong, and we'd all shake our heads in disappointment. what you're looking at is actually chili pepper ice cream. DECEIVING! underneath that is a lovely apricot crumble. both were good, and the ice cream was surprising. not in a bad, omg my mouth is on fire way, but in a good, this is interesting and different kind of way. next to it is fresh lemonade - both of which are from FAIRY CAKES. sorry folks, i think this chili pepper ice cream was a special for the theme at ETS..... had to be there! and to end the night, we all decided to get some popcicles from ONO POPS. you might have heard of them? they're usually at all the trade shows, new product shows, etc. pictured is lilikoi cheesecake and mexican chocolate. the lilikoi cheese cake was just ok..... the mexican chocolate was like a fudge pop with cinnamon!
check out the Eat the Street website for more info! the next ETS event will be in Mililani at Rec Center 7 (Mauka), September 17th from 2pm - 7pm. hope to see you there! :D
