previously, this was only available in Japan during 2012, and for a limited time only. how it managed to find its way to Hawaii, and in September, is a mystery to me.....
a mystery that i am not going to question! i love watermelon, and tend to like watermelon flavored things, even if i do know that it is artificial in flavor. i heard about this soda and thought it would just be one of those things i would never get to try... UNTIL NOW! it is currently sold in Marukai market. i got it at the Ward center location, and it was a little over $2. so what did it taste like? more watermelon than salty, but the watermelon flavor did taste a bit... "off". i personally liked it - especially ice cold (i tired it warm and it was weird). i made a friend of mine try some and she said "blleeechhhh!" so.... i guess she didn't like it. IF you spot it in your area, try it! only one way to find out if you're gonna like it or not...... P.S. - i did not forget about the previous post... i will post that recipe soon!! i promise!!

have you ever tried to slice a tomato with a dull knife? it is like slicing with one of these: I'll admit - i am guilty of using dull knives. it's mostly because I'm too lazy to sharpen mine, so i just tell myself that they're "good enough". not so! you're actually putting yourself at a higher risk of injury by using dull knives! i realized this the other day when i was trying to slice some pork (i'll show you that in the up-coming post btw..), and i nearly chopped into my finger. YIKES. lets everybody get together, and keep those knives sharp! here is a good article about the options you have to sharpen your knives: http://www.sheknows.com/food-and-recipes/articles/962930/ways-to-sharpen-dull-knives also, in Honolulu, there is a new business that will not only sharpen your knives for cheap, but they also will come to you..... unfortunately, i'm going to have to come back and update you on their name, prices, etc.... i read a small article about them, and i need to find that article! when i do, i'll update!! Until then.... watch this video on how to sharpen your knife - yourself - with a whet stone. i have a whet stone at home, and it is pretty easy to use. also, the stone itself is pretty inexpensive - you can pick one up from Longs for under $10. P.S. ...... below is how to NOT sharpen your knife properly... haha! |
